Melmark Carolinas serves students with a range of developmental disabilities including autism, intellectual disability, fetal alcohol syndrome, traumatic brain injury, Down syndrome, and more. The Melmark Carolinas school educates students on both the extended and general content standards, with students working towards a standard high school diploma, the occupational course of study diploma, or a certificate of completion for students accessing adapted content.

The Carolinas division of Melmark was founded in 2018 as a result of extensive research by leaders at Melmark focused on areas in the U.S. with the greatest need for Melmark’s clinically-sophisticated services. Research showed that some children in the Carolinas were not receiving Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) and desperately needed high-quality evidence-based services. Through our service division based in Charlotte, North Carolina, we have expanded Melmark’s already proven model of program development and clinical treatment to make a positive impact on students in this part of the country.
