Meet Melmark NE

Melmark New England serves the needs of children and young adults with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), acquired brain injury, neurodevelopmental disorders, dual diagnosis and severe challenging behaviors in the Greater Boston area. The year-round education programs at our Andover, Massachusetts site, as well as our residential programs and outreach consultation services, have benefited great numbers of students, often achieving remarkable results. Our eminently qualified and professional staff provides a level of service and dedication to students that have earned Melmark New England a long-standing reputation for education and clinical service excellence.

Melmark’s Andover program is located on a beautiful 9-acre site that includes:

18 classrooms (six for early child programs; 12 for school age)
Therapy rooms for Speech, OT, PT
Gymnasium and fitness trails equipment
Outdoor walking areas and trails into neighboring conservation land
Playgrounds designed for children with special needs
Residential homes are in the nearby towns of Tewksbury, Methuen, Dracut, and Peabody

Success Story: Nate

Four years ago, Nate was languishing in a hospital out of state. Rejected by more than 60 programs throughout the country, Nate was kept in restraints and unable to travel outside the walls of the hospital. His intense and high rates of self-injury were simply too challenging for other educational programs to consider.

One day in January of 2006, Frank Bird, Melmark’s Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer, was visiting the hospital Nate was in, considering the admission of another student. Frank met Nate and instantly bonded with him and decided that Melmark New England was capable of addressing his complex clinical needs.
